Shara specializes in acupuncture therapy for pain management of acute or chronic pain. Acupuncture is a safe and minimally invasive therapy that helps many different conditions. She has treated many cases of pain related to the neck and back due to degenerative changes or injury, pain due arthtritis, pain in the muscles, pain due to nerve damage and pain related to headaches or migraines. She has a lot of success in reducing severity and frequency of symptoms. In addition to acupuncture she will often advise patients about supplemental, herbal and nutritional changes that can help enhance treatments. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can treat so much more than just pain. She has dedicated her time to understanding and treating many disorders and imbalances in the body including diabetes, insomnia, obesity, anxiety, irritable bowel syndrome, psoriasis, acne, PMS and infertility. All of which respond favorably to treatment with chinese medicine.
Shara Resende, L.Ac. is a graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor degree in Biology and of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (NY) with a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. She is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and nationally certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbology with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and certified in clean needle technique with the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is licensed for Acupuncture in the State of New Jersey.
Her treatments focus on the integration of alternative medicine with standard care. She is currently working with doctors at Westfield Health and Rehabilition to achieve optimal patient care by incorporating holistic medicine into treatment plans.
She has spent time in Beijing, China learning with masters and doctors of Chinese medicine. Her experience visiting multiple hospitals and assisting in the treatment and care of patients in China has greatly contributed to her practice. She helped manage patients with many disorders including stoke, hemiplegia, facial paralysis, herpes zoster and others.
