About Joseph Rockman
Joseph is a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist, and practices Chinese Herbal medicine for the past nine years in the South Shore of Long Island. He has practiced as a Licensed Massage Therapist since 1998. He studied acupuncture at Tri State College of Acupuncture. Joseph practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He practices Dr. Tan method of acupuncture which utilizes classic meridian acupuncture giving the person who suffers from pain immediate relief.
He also specializes in Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), which is a modern American approach to classical meridian acupuncture that draws from both classical meridian acupuncture and Western physical medicine, notably the technique of myofascial release of soft-tissue constrictions or trigger points to aid or relieve pain syndromes.
Joseph is also trained in Japanese acupuncture. This style is known as an effective style of acupuncture which draws from classical acupuncture while incorporating modern Western biomedicine principles to understand the patient's complaint. This style utilizes abdominal palpation, moxibustion, and release points to confirm that certain symptoms have changed during the treatment.
In addition to Joseph's training, he has practiced in the New York area for the past ten years as a NY state Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in manual trigger point release and deep medical massage for the treatment of any type of pain caused by stress, trauma, or sports injuries. He also practices Tui Na, Amma therapy, and Swedish (European) massage for pain and or relaxation.
Joseph is trained in Chinese herbal medicine and Kampo herbal medicine which he has practiced for 9 years. He has a strong background in TCM and Chinese herbal medicine for the past 14 years as an Amma therapist-massage therapist, and is committed to the field and helping people recover from illness and pain.
Joseph has been working as an acupuncturist in the addiction & behavioral therapies field for the past 7 years. He has developed and directed the acupuncture program in two mental health services facilities. Long Beach Medical Center - Methadone Maintentance Clinic and currently is the lead acupuncturist at Mountainside Treatment Center in Canaan, CT in Northwestern CT.
Joseph is available for lectures and protocol development in the addiction & behavioral services field.
Joseph also incorporates dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong exercises into his practice when necessary.
