About David Cohen

Voted Best Acupuncturist in Hall County 2016 and 2017.

David L. Cohen, D.O. has over 45 years of experience as a general medical practitioner. He has been Board Certified in Medical Acupuncture by the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture for over twenty years and was a clinical instructor of “Medical Acupuncture for Physicians” at UCLA. He specializes in the treatment of all types of pain, utilizing a pain treatment technique called Craig PENS.

Craig PENS (Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a pain treatment technique developed by William F. Craig, M.D. It involves the placement of acupuncture needles through the skin, near nerves, to help pain sufferers recover normal function. Once correctly placed near the nerves responsible for the generation of the pain signals, the needles are then stimulated with precisely regulated electrical current.

According to Dr Craig, "Almost any kind of pain can be treated with Craig PENS. The conditions treated most successfully are neck and low back pain, shingles, Trigeminal neuralgia, neuropathic pain (see below) and diabetic neuropathy. Some kinds of joint pains respond well depending on the age and degree of the injury or arthritis involved.” In addition, research is fast finding more conditions that respond well to Craig PENS. For example, new studies suggest that Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Spastic Colon and Urinary Bladder problems can be helped with this technique.

Dr. Cohen recently attended a seminar with Dr. Richard Niemtzow, the developer of "BATTLE FIELD ACUPUNCTURE", a novel technique being used in the military for sever injuries to control pain. Other subjects addressed were vertigo-dizziness, insomnia, dry eye dry mouth, migraine, stress depression, well as techniques for habit control. Using these techniques in addition to standard acupuncture approaches increases the success of treatment.

Dr. Cohen completed the Neuropuncture series of couses presented by Dr. M. Corridino in 2016, he is one of the first acupuncturist to have completed this intensive, neuroanatomic approach.
