About Alexander Ly
Alexander Ly has a Master’s degree in Science and is a registered doctor of Chinese medicine, herbalist, and certified acupuncturist. He founded the first acupuncture clinic in Florence, Alabama in 1982 and later went on to establish several other clinical branches in Alabama and Tennessee. With over forty years of experience and teacher of many students, Alex is an expert in Chinese medicine and the most experienced acupuncturist in the Southeast area. Having treated thousands of patients for over twenty-five years, Alex has a reputation as a compassionate and gifted healer.
Passionate about sharing his knowledge of Chinese medicine and promoting health, Alex has given lectures and talks around the world; served as guest speaker to various groups of medical professionals; and collaborated with renowned researchers on topics such as cancer & herbal medicine and acupuncture & pain management. Alex has been featured in numerous media reports, including the national PBS program, Health Week, and local newspapers and magazines.
Catherine Ly, is a licensed acupuncturist and has been assisting Dr. Alexander Ly with the practice for twenty-five years. Catherine specializes in acupressure, facial massage, and ear acupuncture and oversees the health and beauty program in the clinic which includes facial rejuvenation and cosmetic acupuncture.
Dr. Helen Ly has been paving her career path early on. Growing up, she cultivated an interest in medicine through teachings from their grandfather and father in Chinese medicine and preceptorship at the clinics. She completed her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University and graduated with honors, majoring in neuroscience. She performed acupuncture research at the Children's Hospital Boston and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA where she studied the effects of acupuncture and neuropathic pain. Helen went on to attend medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After finishing a year of preliminary medicine at University of California, Irvine, Helen moved to Memphis, TN where she completed her training in neurology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She further pursued a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology. She is currently board-certified and practicing neurology as well as working with Alex to provide an integrative approach toward patient care.
Dr. Amy Ly was influenced at an early age by her family's tradition in Chinese medicine. She decided at a young age that she would be pursuing a career in medicine. She attained her bachelor's degree in neuroscience with honors from Vanderbilt University followed by working at Harvard Medical School's Osher Center for Integrative Medicine Institute where she investigated the effects of acupuncture on irritable bowel syndrome. She attended medical school at University of Alabama at Birmingham, during which she spent a year in China studying acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the prestigious Tsing-hua University in Beijing. Amy is currently in residency at Vanderbilt University and plans to combine Eastern and Western medicine in her future career.
