About David Pakula, DOM, AP
Many of my patients suffer from chronic pain and other chronic health conditions. They are looking for an alternative to pharmaceuticals or surgical intervention. They want to achieve better health through natural medicine that triggers the body's self-healing capabilities. I have found that acupuncture, herbal medicine, functional medicine and ozone therapy produce the best results.
I specialize in Kiiko Matsumoto-style Japanese acupuncture. This is a gentle yet profound style of acupuncture that produces results that are experienced in real time. When you leave, there is no doubt something positive has happened to support your wellbeing. It utilizes a systematic palpation method that provides instant feedback to the practitioner. This feedback is used to assess the patient's presentation and monitor the effects of the treatment while the patient is still on the treatment table.
I also specialize in Jing Fang Classical Chinese Herbology. "Jing Fang" means formula pattern. It is a method of herbal practice that uses the formula patterns described in Zhang Zhong Jing's Han Dynasty classical texts. However, Jing Fang is much more than just using formula patterns. It is a method of diagnosis that is based on the six syndromes (variously translated as the six divisions, six conformations or six warps) and the eight guiding principles. This method treats the person not the disease and promotes the body's natural ability to restore health.
I also practice functional medicine, which is s systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual's illness.
In addition, I utilize ozone therapy. Ozone is a highly reactive form of pure oxygen. In medicine, ozone is used to create a curative response in the body. There are various methods of administration, including prolozone injections for the joints and spine, ozone sauna, insufflation, major autohemotherapy, IV ozonated saline, etc. The method of administration is determined on a case by case basis.
