Stretch Your Marketing Budget: Participate in Awareness Days
By: Acufinder Editorial Staff

Make your marketing dollar go farther by participating in community, regional or national health awareness days!

Health awareness days are promoted on a large scale to alert the public to important health issues, and are the perfect opportunity to share how acupuncture and Oriental medicine can contribute to maintaining optimal health.

Active participation in health awareness events will give you an opportunity to engage your audience in a dialogue about specific health issues and how the services you provide can address those issues.

General health awareness day calendars can be found at:

International Awareness Days
U.S. National Health Observances
U.K. - National Health Services Local Events
Canada Health Promotion Days
Department of Health and Ageing Australia Events

Use different awareness days that occur throughout the year to share your expertise in acupuncture and Oriental medicine and bring in more patients.

An important annual awareness day for promoting acupuncture and Oriental medicine is Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day on October 24th.

Spearheaded by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), this annual national day of observance is designated to educate and raise awareness of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Day is supported through a unique international partnership including professional organizations, research organizations and educational institutions.

The use of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in the U.S. is at an all-time high. An estimated 36 percent of U.S. adults use some form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), according to a survey by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, a component of the National Institutes of Health. Among the common CAM practices identified by the survey were acupuncture, acupressure, herbal medicine, tai chi and qi gong.

This study and others like it clearly demonstrate that CAM therapies such as acupuncture and Oriental medicine are common practice in today's health care system. They also support the need for consumers to be provided accurate and reliable information regarding their treatment options, including complementary and alternative therapies.

When answering questions about acupuncture and Oriental medicine, don't forget to invite your audience to schedule an appointment or consultation. If you don't ask, you may lose your one and only chance to bring in new business.
