Ayurvedic and Herbal Consultation Available by Internet or Phone

The understanding and treatment of disease and pain with an integrated approach to Asian medicine has been my focus since 1992.

My overall approach to medicine is agricultural--I believe a good doctor is like a good gardener; preparing and nurturing the soil, working with the seasons, to make healthy plants. This grows out of my practice as a Buddhist, and out of my 12 years living in a Yoga monastery, including 3 years in India and Sri Lanka.

For this reason i have also learned Ayurveda, the classical medicine of India. I believe Ayurveda has the most sophisticated approach to using diet and lifestyle counseling to tailor medicine to your individual bodymind type, called Dosha. Different types of people have varied needs.

I was one of the first acupuncturists in San Diego to master the myofascial approach to treating pain, as introduced by Drs. Travel and Simons, M.D. I am expert at this kind of specialized Trigger and Motor Point acupuncture which gives very rapid and lasting results.

I have published online journal articles regularly, and was a Professor of Herbal Medicine and Nutrition at Pacific College for 6 years. I have also served the California Acupuncture Licensing Board as an Assistant Chief Examiner and Subject Matter Expert in Chinese Herbs.

My passions include ethnic natural food cooking, yoga, meditation, poetry, hiking, art, film, singing, and classical music.

I look forward to assisting you in your pursuit of health,

Eyton Shalom
