About Don Matesz

At Barefoot Acupuncture Clinic , I make acupuncture accessible and affordable.  I have 10 years experience in general practice.  I graduated with highest honors from Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture.  I also earned a master’s degree in philosophy (with highest honors), a diploma in Comprehensive Nutrition from the American Academy of Nutrition, and a certification as a resistance training instructor from the International Association of Resistance Trainers.

My titles include:

  • Licensed Acupuncturist

  • Nationally Certified Herbalist (NCCAOM)

  • Nutritionist

  • Previous certification in strength training instruction by the International Association of Resistance Trainers

  • Affiliate of the Healthy Back Institute

I have previously served as head of the nutrition department at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (Tempe): Holistic Weight Management, Nutrition Supplements, Nutrition Therapies, and Holistic Nutrition I and II.

I have also served as an adjunct professor of nutrition at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (Tempe and I taught basic nutrition at Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA).
