About Dr. Anita Marshall
As a registered pharmacist for over 25 years, Dr. Anita Chen Marshall witnessed a great need to supplement western medicine with alternative approaches for treating chronic pain, illness and allergies. Therefore, she became board-certified in both Acupuncture and Herbology in 1998. She subsequently obtained a Ph.D. degree in Oriental Medicine in 2004; and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degree in June, 2010.
With her dual background in eastern and western medicine, Dr. Marshall is able to provide her patients with acupuncture and herbal prescriptions for their chronic and acute health conditions that complement their western medicines and treatments. She maintains a well-stocked Chinese herbal pharmacy and prescribes easy-to-use herbal powder concentrates from manufacturers with high quality standards.
While Dr. Marshall believes that western medicine holds an invaluable place in the world, she knows first hand the benefits that Chinese medicine has had on her patients. Due in part to her background in pharmacology as well as her successful treatment record, Dr. Marshall is well respected in the medical community, getting numerous patient referrals from western doctors. She was voted winner of the 2004 “Best Professional Service Provider Award” by the Alameda Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Marshall’s areas of practice include, among others: pain management, allergy, GI, supportive therapy for chemo and radiation patients, stress reduction, depression, women’s problems, weight control and smoking cessation.
Dr. Marshall really cares about her patients; and they appreciate her compassion, dedication, and willingness to work with their other healthcare providers. She plans to continue to bridge the gap between western and eastern philosophies by promoting Chinese medicine as a viable alternative or supplemented treatment. She is an adjunct faculty at American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, San Francisco; Five Branches University, San Jose; Tri-State College of Acupuncture, NY; and Bastyr Univeristy, Seattle, and Yo San University, L.A.
