About David Edge

David Edge is an Oriental Medicine Doctor in the state of Nevada as well as a Licensed Acupuncturist in California. He graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in 2004 with a Masters degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine.

Traditional Oriental Medicine (TOM) is an empirically based medicine that has existed for more than 2000 years. The ultimate goal in TOM is to prevent injury or disease. In TOM pain or disease is thought to result from an imbalance or hinderance in the flow of Qi (chee) throughout our bodies. One way to think of Qi is as an animating force responsible for all movement and functions of the body. If this flow is hindered or imbalanced then problems will arise. The goal is to find and address the underlying imbalance which is ultimately responsible for the symptoms being experienced. This includes taking into account the whole person- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Also of importance is looking at the relationship one has to their environment. This stems from a TOM belief that we are intimately connected to and affected by the same forces that govern the natural world. A disharmony in this area can result in disease as well. Only by addressing these underlying imbalances will a lasting and complete recovery back to health be made.
