Acupuncture of Iowa

Laura Christensen L.Ac.

About Acupuncture of Iowa

Acupuncture of Iowa is a friendly, relaxing clinic where we give you our full attention at an appointment that is 2-3 times longer than most acupuncturists. We strive to provide the most effective acupuncture we can, and attempt to help you feel better fast. We draw on a variety of techniques and 25+ years experience to find what is best suited for each patient.

We pride ourselves on starting your visit on time and getting you out the door on time. Our first session is 1.5 to 2 hours in length, and includes a full acupuncture session in addition to a complete Chinese medicine evaluation. Follow up sessions are an hour in length.

We have a complete pharmacy of Chinese herbs, which we combine according to centuries old recipes. These are customized for each patient and are completely safe when used as directed.

We use all of the ancillary techniques that are commonly used by acupuncturists, such as laser acupuncture, moxibustion, electro-acupuncture, acupressure, cupping, and others.

We believe that nutrition, in accord with the theory of Chinese medicine, is the foundation of all health. To better serve our patients in that regard, we carry a wide variety of supplements, which we used in accord with strong scientific evidence as well as the theory of Chinese Medicine.

We are featuring our cold laser which can be used for painless acupuncture without needles!

Patients leave our clinic feeling relaxed, refreshed, and much better than when they arrived.

We are expert at pain management, but our favorite thing is preventive healthcare. We love to help our patients get healthy and stay healthy. Patients tell us all the time of the variety of benefits they get from their treatments here. They tell us that they can reduce their medication use, they have more energy, they feel better in general, they sleep better, they get colds less often, they recover more quickly when they get sick, they handle stress better, and they make better choices with food and activities. That is truly prevention!

We also love to help families with infertility issues or other reproductive challenges. At any given time Laura has several patients under care for things such as infertility, preparation for IVF and IUI, repeated pregnancy loss, and nausea of pregnancy. We also can help with labor induction and turning breech babies.

We can give recomendations from Traditional Chinese Medicine on activities, diet, herbs, and other lifestyle choices to help patients optimize their wellness.

Laura and her staff are constantly studying and taking further education to make ourselves the most effective acupuncturists we can be, as well as to find new ideas to help our patients.

Our office is fully handicapped accessible, and we welcome people of all colors, beliefs, spiritual traditions, value systems, gender identities, and cultures.
