About Sunwoo Kim

Zhen means Truth in Healing
By Deatra Poole

Many believe all things happen for a reason. I too ascribe to that notion. Life often intercedes to redirect a life path. Such a road traveled, led Dr. Kim into acupuncture.

And appropriate that I say road traveled it is… About 20 years ago, Sun Woo Kim, (having just graduated with a Law Degree), was in a car accident that left him unable to walk. His law career was idled, (to say the least), but his driving love of knowledge carried on. He turned his unfortunate circumstances into a healthy zeal to help fix his broken self. Wanting to recover naturally and not impair his cranial capacity with mind-altering western medicines, he turned to holistic answers like acupuncture. His successful recovery led him into a lifetime of using acupuncture and natural herbs to cure other bodies of injury or pain.

“I believe that media conditioning leads many Americans to rely too much on medications. Even when the side effects could be a severe as damaging other internal organs, like the liver, kidneys and heart, people still reach for the medicine cabinet,” says Dr. Kim

“Did you know that whenever you take even a simple aspirin it can cause your stomach to bleed? Even Tylenol can cause liver damage if taken in large does over a period of time.” Most medications are like a band-aid. They cover up the problem – not fix it. Masked symptoms seem to make the problem go away, instead of addressing the problem.

At Zhen, we work with natural product not chemicals. Many [American] drug stores carry the herbs that we use in our practice to make you healthier and a whole lot happier. Herbal medicines are designed to work on the whole body, not just an isolated part.

“Did you ever notice that when you fix or replace an auto part, that something else goes wrong? Well, our bodies are very much like the car; because the new part is working as full speed, it puts more pressure on something else and strains another part. So in ZHEN medicine we take care of the body as a whole, not just a part.”

“Stress causes a lot of problems, which can be helped by having an acupuncture treatment,” continued Dr. Kim. “You will feel more peaceful and energetic, after you have received an acupuncturist, as well as, a herbologist and believes he can help most anything; from headaches, hypertension, anxiety, depression, and loss of sleep to some forms of cancer.

“Acupuncture focuses the body’s natural healing properties by stimulating blood flow to areas in need of attention. The minor irritation to the body caused by the pinpricks induces this reaction. People are absolutely amazed what conditions can be overcome just by redirecting the life blood flowing within us all.”

The combinations of whole body herbal treatments and acupuncture are the key for many to a happier, healthy life.
