About Meg Coons
As an acupuncturist and herbalist my goal is to not only treat your pain or illness -- from women’s health, weight management, acute and chronic pain and allergies, to name a few -- but to also help prevent illness and disease from occurring in the first place. I treat a wide-variety of health conditions, but my specialty is instructing my patients in the ancient self-healing energy practice of Qigong. These simple exercises are easy to learn and are extremely effective in helping patients reclaim their health from physical trauma, degenerative changes in the body, as well as internal diseases. Qigong is also highly effective for health prevention.
A cornerstone of my practice is to help empower my patients to become an active participant in their own recovery. I educate them about how to read and listen to the body’s physical and emotional signs and symptoms which may point to more serious health problems. Integrating Qigong into my acupuncture and herbal practice is a powerful combination that treats the root cause of illness and helps prevent disease reoccurrence.
I am certified to lead two Qigong-based health programs, one of which is The Dragon’s Way® , a 6-week weight loss and stress management program. I’m also a Breast Cancer Prevention Project Trainer which helps women who are currently experiencing or recovering from breast cancer and its side effects. This program is also for women who have a family history of breast cancer or if they simply wish to learn prevention techniques. Both programs are based on traditional Chinese medicine principles and were taught under the guidance of Grand Master Nan Lu, founder of Traditional Chinese Medicine World Foundation, New York City. I have been a Qigong student of Grand Master Lu and his school, Tao of Healing, since 1999, and continue to study with him.
