About Benjamin Dierauf
My goal is to provide you with safe, gentle effective acupuncture care, and help you to use the principles of Oriental Medicine in your life.
With 23+ years as a Licensed Acupuncturist, I can help you with a variety of health conditions, including aches and pains, injuries, digestive disorders, gynecological issues, allergies, immune disorders, fatigue, sleep disorders and stress.
Your first visit includes a detailed intake of the issues affecting your health and quality of life, from which we work out a comprehensive treatment plan together.
Besides acupuncture, I may prescribe herbal medicine and use other modalities to help you, including bodywork, moxa, suction cups and guasha (dermal scraping).
I received my BS in Nutrition and Food Science from UC Berkeley in 1986. After getting acupuncture while teaching English and studying Chinese in Taiwan, I received my MS in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991.
In addition to private practice, I worked at the Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College from 1996 to 2012. My roles included developing the curriculum as the academic dean, supervising student interns, and teaching. This gives me a unique perspective on the strengths and benefits of this ancient medicine, its integration with modern medicine, and how it can benefit you.
I’ve been recognized and honored for my work in the field of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, including “Acupuncturist of the Year” by the American Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) in 2003, “Professional Excellence Award” by the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics in 2004, and “Pioneer of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine” by the AAAOM in 2007.
