About Steve Paine
Steve Paine, OMD is an acupuncturist licensed in Connecticut and Hawaii, a diplomat of the (US) National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists, a Certified Disability Evaluator and a diplomat of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics. Steve received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Oriental Medicine located in Hong Kong, in 1989.
Steve completed the China Ministry of Public Health Advanced Acupuncture Training Program at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China. He graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York. Steve is a past President of the Hawaii Acupuncture Association and a member of the US-China Medical Association.
Dr. Paine is the current president of the National Guild of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, NGAOM Guild 62, AFL-CIO affiliated member of the OPEIU, Office and Professional Employees International Union. The AFL-CIO has 11.2 million members as of January 2013. Guild 62 has leadership and members in 15 states as of January 2013. The Guild is dedicated to the professional and economic success of licensed acupuncturists through educational reform, continuing education, and the most intensive lobbying efforts of any national or state association of licensed acupuncturists.
Steve uses a comprehensive approach to treating patients which respects and complements conventional allopathic medical treatments. Emphasis is placed on physical complaints but with a keen appreciation of the client's emotional and mental states. Underlying his approach is the assumption that illness and discomfort often have roots that go deeper than the physical and that attitude and lifestyle have a profound effect on physical health.
