Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.)

Eligibility Requirements: Current, active NCCAOM certification in acupuncture.
Reciprocity/Endorsement: The NCCAOM must provide the Colorado Office of Acupuncturists Licensure with proof of the applicant's current NCCAOM certification process AND proof of the applicant's licensure in another state must be provided by the licensing authority in that state to the Colorado Office of Acupuncturists Licensure.

Medical doctors and osteopaths may practice acupuncture in Colorado without any specific training.
Acupuncture is not within the scope of practice of a physician physican assistant.
Chiropractors must be certified with 100 hours of theory and supervised clinical instruction plus affidavits of 25 cases.
NOTE: Look for a physician with formal training in the practice of acupuncture. Acupuncture and Oriental medicine is an art and a science that takes years to master. While any licensed physician can stick needles into you, for a positive experience and results, find an acupuncturist with experience treating a similar condition (with acupuncture) to what you have.
