Ms.Helfner has always been interested in the healing arts, the progression from glass and metal to body work and healing was a natural one. The same creativity that was utilized throughout Ms. Helfner's art career translates now to the body in the healing arts. Ms. Helfner has worked in the natural healthcare profession since 2000. Prior to studying TCM, Ms. Helfner maintained a private massage practice with a primary focus on "Bodywork for the Childbearing Year". The remainder of her practice provided wellness care with the focus of balancing the mind, body and spirit. In massage work, Ms. Helfner incorporates Swedish massage, Shiatsu and Reiki to meet the clients’ specific needs.
Ms. Helfner's clinical experience includes work with patients in Lutheran Hospital in Brooklyn, New York to provide acupuncture to support oncology care, labor and delivery and Neurological/orthopedic rehabilitation. Working with inpatient care in hospitals is particularly rewarding work because the patients are treated while their conditions are at an acute stage and can often gain the most therapeutic value from acupuncture. While working in an active clinic in New York City Ms. Helfner treated patients with diverse conditions.
