Chi Sheng Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs & Massage is one of the first acupuncture and Chinese medicine practices in Colorado. The clinic is owned and operated by a dynamic husband and wife team with over 35 years of medical experience, Pei Fen Yan L.Ac., Dipl. NCCAOM, MD (China) & Yon Liu, L.Ac., Dipl. NCCAOM, MD (China).
Pei Fen Yan and Yong Liu received their MD from ShiHeZi Medical School in China where they learned both Western and Chinese medicine. Pei Fen Yan is an OB/GYN for 8 years during which time she performed variety of female surgeries, using Acupuncture in many cases of anesthesia. Pei Fen Yan has always 3 years internal medicine specializing in communicative diseases with focus on treatment of liver issues. Yong Liu has 14 years as a M.D. in internal medicine and pediatrics. They treated Chinese patients using western medicine combined with Acupuncture and Herbal remedies.
In 1986 when the doctors established their clinics in Denver and Boulder Colorado, they were one of the first professional acupuncture and herbal Chinese medicine clinics in the state. Since that time, Pei Fen Yan has been involved in Colorado Boulder’s Midwife Group. She uses Acupuncture Herbal and moxabustion helping difficult cases, providing good pre-natal and post-natal care. In clinic she treats female issues such as irregular menstruation, cysts, uterus-fiber tumors, breast lumps, and cervical-infection, miscarriage, PMS, help breach baby before 37 or 38 weeks, specializing in infertility, supports IVF and Artificial Insemination. Pei Fen Yan also conducts injury and pain relief, facial rejuvenation, treats hair loss, weight management and smoking cessation. Pei Fen helps with liver issues and treats stress, anxiety and emotional disorders.
Yong Liu has 18 years of experience as an M.D. working Internal Medicine and Pediatrics; using herbs, Acupuncture, and Western medicine. Since 1986 he has successfully treated of a variety of issues with pain, injury, arthritis, headache, allergies, respiratory system disease, digestive problems, high-blood pressure, high cholesterol stroke and blood diseases, dermatological problems including shingles, psoriasis, eczema, acne, urinary tract infection, gall stones, kidney stones, drug addiction, ADD, and children’s health issues.

Pei Fen Yan L.Ac., MD (China) & Yon Liu, L.Ac., MD (China) are board certified and licensed acupuncturists in Colorado as well as medical doctors in China. They have over 35 years experience with acupuncture and Chinese medicine and have great success with treating even the most persistent and hard-to-treat cases.
Pei Fen Yan: Since 1969 she worked at OB/GYN M.D. at the Bo Le Zhou the Second People’s Hospital in China, where she successfully treated many female health issues and performed variety surgeries including hysterectomy, C-section, tubular legation, removing ovarian cysts, miscarriage, d.n.c., etc. During surgery she used acupuncture to help with anesthesia which reduced side-affects and used herbals to assist recovery. She used acupuncture and herbals to induce labor and reduce labor pain, assist in breach baby deliveries, morning sickness, lactation, and pre-natal and post-natal care, menopause problems. etc. Pei Fen Yan also trained medical school graduates. At this time Pei Fen Yan completed several case studies on female bleeding problems and abdominal mass and differential diagnosis.
1984 she came to the U.S.A. In 1985 worked at the Boulder Women’s Health Center as a Physician’s Assistant she shares Chinese Medicine and later she became involved with the Boulder Midwife Group about eight years she assisted with home deliveries; she shared her experience with Chinese medicine while gaining knowledge on treating American women. With the BMG she assisted in delivery labor complications when necessary, balancing mothers Qi and blood, helping mothers reduce labor pain, prevent excessive bleeding, also help with infant jaundice and umbilical cord complications.
Since 1986 Pei Fen Yan has been working at their clinic beyond the general care like injuries, pain, she is highly experienced in treatment of women’s issues, she has a high success rate with infertility cases and support IVF and artificial insemination and other problems are treated by Pei Fen Yan including irregular menstruation, pain, PMS, chronic infections, cysts, fibrous tumors menopause, morning sickness, reduced labor pains help with breach baby before 371/2 weeks, lactation, and cervix dysplatia. She is also good at treatment of liver problems, hair loss, weight control and facial acupuncture for skin rejuvenation.
She is highly experienced treatment for female issues and other issues whether in the clinic, patient’s homes, or the Hospital. Education and continued study:
In 1991 she further studied Chinese medicine; acupuncture, herbal medicine, etc. in Shanghai’s First People’s Hospital OB/GYN Chinese Medicine Department. She studied under renowned Doctor Cai Xiao Sheng a variety of female health issues specializing in infertility, irregular menstruation, PMS, uterus-fibrous tumor, ovary cysts, hormone imbalance, breast lumps, birth control side affects, and support of cancer treatment.
She also studied bone and soft-tissue injury using Chinese medicine treatment at Shanghai Huang Pu Central Hospital Injury Chinese Medicine Department with Dr. Shi Jian Yu and his sister Shi Yun Xie who are seven generations of bone and muscle injury practice in the Shanghai China. She additionally studied internal medicine and endocrine specializing in Thyroid Treatment with Chinese medicine followed by Dr. Shi Yuan Yu and Dr. Xiu Jian Yu in China Shanghai Chinese Medicine Outpatient Center at the Chinese Medicine Hospital in Shanghai. In 1995 she went to Jing Zhi Orthopedic Hospital in Shan Xi province China where she studied bone and soft-tissue injury treatment using Western and Chinese Medicine Treatment with Dr. Zhang Jing Ban.
Pei Fen Yan continued study in the United States with Dr. Mako Shima, in the areas of extra meridian treatment and injection therapy. Studied ear acupuncture from Dr. Wang at TCM School in Denver CO. Insurance Billing scale study with Dr. Mark. In 2006 October she studied Bridge of Western Medicine and Eastern Medicine in New Jersey hosted by New York Acupuncture Association Annual Meeting. She also studied injuries with Dr. She Jie Yun who is seven generations of bone and muscle injury practice in the Shanghai Huang Pu Center Hospital. She further studied pain management for upper and lower extremities from Dr. Frank. Studied Facial Acupuncture Rejuvenation from Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture Martha Ph.D. Also studied Adrenal Fatigue, Hypothyroidism and Insulin Resistance combining functional Medicine with TCM through Dr. Jake Paul Fratkin, OMD, L.Ac. and Randy Bimestefer, L.Ac. Studied under Dr. Daisy Dong for Cancer with TCM treatment.
Yong Liu: He took advanced study in homeopathy (Western Medicine) in Xian Jiang Medical School took Tui Na from Xian Yan Hospital in Hunan Province and also studied internal medicine and pediatrics in Shanghai’s Children’s Hospital focusing on both Western and Chinese Medicine. Yong Liu continued education in scalp acupuncture for treatment of stroke and any other health issues from Ming Qin Zhu. He then studied with Richard Tan focusing on special acupuncture points for pain management. In addition he accompanied Pei Fen Yan with continued studies with Dr. Mako Shima, Dr. Wang, Dr. Frank, and Dr. Dong Qi.
In China Yong Liu worked as an Internal Medicine and Pediatric M.D. was highly renowned and experienced in residence hospital. Arriving in the U.S.A. practiced Chinese Medicine in 1986 focusing on a variety of issues for both adults and children, specializing in pain management including migraine and tooth ache and internal health issues including, respiratory system, allergies, sinus, cough, asthma, chronic bronchitis, cold and flu treatment. Digestive issues including, acid-reflux, irritable bowl syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, ulcers, gall-stones, kidney stones. Focus on assistance to, stroke, paralysis, hypertension, anxiety, depression and fatigue, endocrinology, thyroid problems, Diabetes and Hypoglycemia. Vertigo, skin issues, psoriasis, acne, shingles, eczema, hives, chicken pox, children issues such as ADD, allergies, fevers, ear infections.
