About Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic
"We at the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic recognize the uniqueness of your healing journey and are honored to walk this path with you. It is our intention to always demonstrate faith in your ability to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually."
-mission statement
The Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic is the oldest and largest Chinese Medical clinic in Western North Carolina. It was established in 1985 by Dr. Mary Cissy Majebe. Through the years, the clinic has earned a fine reputation for serving the healthcare needs of the greater southeastern United States.
Chinese Medicine incorporates an understanding of how illness is created and gives attention to the spiritual component of good health. Our acupuncturists understand the importance of preventing illness and maintaining vitality and well-being. We also believe that each patient is unique, and that it is important that everyone who enters into the clinic not be seen as ill but rather as a person with all their unique characteristics moving toward health.
We understand the challenges that illness presents and our staff creates a team effort, meeting you fully and in a positive, peaceful, loving, and supportive environment.
About Our Practitioners
Mary Cissy Majebe, O.M.D., Lic. Ac., and Academic Dean of Daoist Traditions, College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, N.C., founded the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic in 1985.
Since the inception of the clinic, Dr. Majebe’s healing knowledge has become widely known. Due to the number of requests for her knowledge, wisdom, and healing abilities, Dr. Majebe expanded her clinic to employ other Licensed Acupuncturists whose individual trainings have been supplemented by Dr. Majebe’s teachings.
In 1993, Dr. Majebe became the first chair of the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board. She has taught workshops throughout the United States for both Chinese Medicine practitioners and Western-trained healthcare providers, helping to foster understanding between these two healthcare systems, each with their own unique benefits.
Dr. Majebe is particularly interested in children. Her depth of pediatric knowledge and experience has made her a sought after expert, teaching Acupuncturists around the United States on childhood issues such as asthma, allergies, seizures and autism. Dr. Majebe’s paper, “The Treatment of Autism with Chinese Medicine” was published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine.
She is pleased that the Chinese Acupuncture Clinic is an integral part of the healing community of Asheville, N.C. and feels blessed to be a part of this community.
