About Adele Strauss
Adele Strauss M.Ac., L.Ac. graduated with a Masters Degree in Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine and certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She also has a background in psychotherapy and shiatsu.
Maintaining a busy and flourishing private practice for sixteen years Adele specializes in Classical Chinese Medicine, which is distinctly different from Traditional Chinese Medicine, in that it encompasses the comprehensive use of five Energy Channel Systems, instead of the usual one or two, as taught and practiced by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In Classical Acupuncture a specific Channel System is chosen for treatment based on the type of health issue and the level or depth in the body, at which the condition is manifesting. For example, for acute muscular-skeletal conditions, or recent onset colds and 'flu, or skin conditions, the Sinew Channels are used; for psycho-social-emotional issues, the Luo Channels are used; for chronic conditions spanning an entire lifetime, affecting both physical and emotional conditions, the Extraordinary Channels are used; and for auto-immune, chronic conditions the Divergent Channels are used. The Primary Channels allow for treatment of the organs and span a vast spectrum of conditions. The ability to address specific Channel Systems in this way often yields profound results.
She also specializes in a style of modern Japanese Acupuncture, which uses abdominal palpation as a primary diagnostic measure, yielding immediate results, as well as her own style of deep tissue massage, based on Chinese and Japanese bodywork therapies.
Adele spends considerable time with each client, preferring to see only one person at a time. She emphasizes the importance of nutritional and lifestyle counseling as part of treatment.
Working in a field as vast and ancient as Chinese Medicine, she is actively and passionately involved in ongoing studies. |
