About Jennifer Chai
Jennifer H. Chai, MSTOM, L.Ac is a graduate of Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where she earned her Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is licensed by the State of New York to practice acupuncture, and is a Nationally Board Certified Diplomate of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She also completed and is certified in Clean Needle Technique (CNT by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM). She holds a Bachelors in Psychology from SUNY StonyBrook University.
Jennifer brings in an extensive background in Mental Health and Medical Research to her career as a Chinese Medicine Practitioner. She began her medical career as a research scientist at Columbia University’s N.Y. Presbyterian Hospital-New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she worked for over 7 years on National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) government funded clinical trials researching various mental disorders. Upon obtaining her license of acupuncture she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator investigating various urological disorders at a Urology Clinic based in Midtown, N.Y., Jennifer is also an (ACRP) Certified Clinical Research Coordinator.
Jennifer has not only been in private practice, but has worked at several hospitals, providing treatment to both patients and staff. Jennifer worked in the Rehab/Detox Unit at St. Johns Riverside Hospital (Yonkers) treating patients with addictions and withdrawal symptoms associated with substance abuse. In addition, she trained as a fellow at St. Johns Medical Hospital in Downtown, Manhattan providing acupuncture treatments to in-patients on the Rehabilitation, Geriatric, and Post-Surgical departments, hospital staff, and its out-patient clinic. Most recently, Jennifer is in collaboration with western doctors researching the benefits of integrating acupuncture into hospitals.
With years of experience in the bio-chemical world of Western Medicine, she continues to integrate her knowledge and experience in both Western and Eastern Medicine in her private practice.
