About Michael Buyze
Michael Buyze is a graduate of the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. He holds an Acupuncture Certificate and a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine. He founded East Wind Acupuncture as his private practice in 1998 and has done over 10,000 treatments since that time. He also is affiliated with Fox Valley Wellness Center where he works with functional medicine practitioner Steven Meress, MD to provide integrative care (see www.foxvalleywellness.com).
In addition to his clinical work, Michael teaches and lectures on traditional Chinese medicine topics. He is a faculty member at the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine where he has taught pharmacolgy for the past 8 years and practice management for the past 4 years. He has also lectured at various massage schools, colleges and universities.
Michael's education includes Master's degrees in Exercise Physiology and Business Administration as well as a Bachelor's degree in Education. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist he spent 13 years working in and with hospitals setting up and running cardiac rehabilitation, health promotion and diabetes management programs. As a clinician he worked with hundreds of patients in disease management, secondary prevention and health promotion. As a manager he set up the framework in which other clinicians treated thousands more.
