Dr. Alicia Villamarin is a Nationally NCCAOM Board Certified Acupuncture Physician. She holds a Master in Oriental Medicine, a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology and a Master in Clinical Hypnosis.
In her Center, Full Moon Acupuncture, Dr. Villamarin practices several different modalities such as Acupuncture, Acutonics, Auriculotherapy, Tui-Na, Moxibustion, Herbology, Homotoxicology, Usuo and Kuruna Reiki, Nutritional counseling, Clinical Hypnosis, Past Life Regression Therapy (Trained by Dr. Brian Weiss), and Pranic Healing.
For those that want to benefit from acupuncture and energy-based therapies but do not like needles -especially children- or simply for those people that identify with sound healing, Acutonics is a great alternative and a complement to the other Oriental Medicine modalities. In brief, Acutonics is an Energy-based non-invasive treatment that is similar to acupuncture. Calibrated tuning forks are applied to specific acupuncture, acupressure and trigger points to access the body’s meridian and chakra energy systems.
Acupuncture and Acutonics have been used effectively to treat Neurological problems such as migraine headache, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia, gynecological problems, urogenital, gastrointestinal, emotional and psychological, respiratory problems such as asthma, sinusitis, flu, musculo-skeletal pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, fatigue, hypertension, diabetes, support for cancer, AIDS/HIV, stop smoking, stress and anxiety, panic attacks, etc.
Dr. Villamarin graduated suma cum laude from University of Sevilla, Spain with a Biology Degree. She then received a Masters in Science and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from New York University Medical Center in New York. After years of basic research, Dr. Villamarin felt that it was time to explore the philosophy and the art of medicine and decided to study Oriental Medicine. She graduated from ATOM (Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine) in Ft. Lauderdale with a Masters in Oriental Medicine. Now, with the knowledge of both, the old philosophies and the new science, she can bridge the gap and integrate mind, body and spirit, east and west and recover the Art of Medicine.
