About Karen Siegel

KAREN SIEGEL, MPH, MS, RD, LD, LAc
Karen Siegel and her associates at Nutrition and Acupuncture Wellness Clinic, take the concept of healing patients at a deeper level literally. Since receiving her Board Certification and Texas Licensure, she has expanded her nutrition consulting practice to include Traditional Chinese Medicine practices of acupuncture and herbal therapy. Ms. Siegel has the added advantage of being the only Licensed Dietitian in Texas who can treat patients utilizing Chinese and Western Food therapy with Acupuncture and Herbal Formulations. She was also recently (2008) appointed by Govenor Rick Perry to sit on the Texas State Board of Examiners for Acupunctures for a six term.

For the past 20 years, Ms. Siegel has been a pioneer in the nutritional treatment of eating disorders, including compulsive eating, bulimia and anorexia. She is once again pioneering new healing strategies in this very specialized field with her skills in Chinese Medicine.

In addition, Ms. Siegel has been successful in treating a wide variety of emotional and physical problems using acupuncture and herbal medicine. She employs various strategies of Traditional Chinese Medicine to help patients overcome acute and chronic problems with pain, as well as symptoms of menopause, menstrual difficulties, digestive problems, depression and emotional instability. She is a strong advocate of working with a team and frequently refers patients to medical doctors and psychotherapists.

Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Siegel earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Vermont and completed her internship at the University of Texas, Houston. She received a Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Texas School of Public Health and her Masters degree in Oriental Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Houston, TX. She is Board Certified and Licensed through the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and is a Diplomate in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.
