About Wei Li
Wei Li was born in Hefei in the Anhui Providence of China, descendant from seven generations of Chinese physicians. At the early age of 12, she began studying under her father, a respected physician and practitioner of Chinese medicine. Within five years, she opened her own practice in acupuncture and herbal medicine.
She enrolled in Anhui Medical University at the age of 21 to study western medicine and graduated magna cum laude with a medical degree. She then attended graduate school to specialize in nephrology in both eastern and western medicine and, again, graduated magna cum laude. As the kidney is among the most important organs in the theory of Chinese medicine, her knowledge in nephrology greatly expanded her expertise.
Wei Li has practiced acupuncture and herbal medicine for more than 30 years. After coming to the United States, she taught at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) for over 12 years while maintaining her own practice in Portland.
Wei Li's Diseases of the Kidney & Bladder (first published under the title Clinical Nephrology in Chinese Medicine in November of 2003), is the first complete textbook and clinical reference published in the English language on the Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment of kidney and bladder diseases.
