About Christine Oagley
Cloud Hawk Medicine is a practice dedicated to assisting people in their journey toward balanced healthy living in a manner that is most meaningful to them. By listening to all the patients concerns and educating the patient to listen to his or her own body, a relationship is created where the practitioner and patient work together toward creating health and harmony in body, mind and spirit.
Chris has 20 plus years of experience in both alternative and western medicine. She has graduate degrees in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College, Santa Fe and in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She also completed post graduate studies in China.
Chris has specialized in treatment of complex chronic pain and stress disorders for many years and finds Oriental Medicine offers a unique way to address the many aspects of ill health simultaneously. It helps the person to regain a sense of trust in their body and brings about healing by engaging the mind/body connection.
She has an extensive background in orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine and has found treating the unheathly emotions that often accompany long term injury or ill health is as important as treating the problem that generated them in the initially. Giving people a safe space and time to process their experience is important in the healing process. Today's life, both in and out of the traditional medical setting rarely allows for that critical time of reflection and processing that is integral to the healing process.
She also has special expertise in the management of hand , wrist and upper extremity injuries both acute and chronic, including RSD, chronic painful wrist and thumb diagnoses like arthritis, tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Chris uses both Eastern and Western treatment methods including: Traditional Chinese acupuncture modalities, Chinese herbology and nutritional medicine, Qi Gong, homeopathy, laser therapy, and when needed western rehabilitation modalities, including custom splinting.
Since her earliest days as an Occupational Therapist Chris has been a advocate for patients rights and continues to be so to this day. Prior to entering in medical field Chris worked professionally as a designer in both films and the New York Theatre. She has also served in U. S. Marine Corps.
The Hawk in Native American and Celtic traditions is a messenger that can bring about powerful insight allowing us to better understand and engage our reality.
