About Michael Dishler
Experience and professionalism, practicing Acupuncture for 28 years and counting.
In 1974, armed only with a youthful verve and recently acquired Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University with a science background including courses in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, I went off to Oxford, England to study at the College of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. There I encountered the finest educational experience I had ever had. About one third of the students in the class were practicing MD’s which may convey to some the professionalism and quality of the training.
Our teacher, a distinguished British Acupuncturist was able to impart a great deal of the knowledge and much of the unique wisdom contained in this venerable system of medicine in a way that a sometimes open and sometimes skeptical group of Americans could grasp.
Thirty years later, much of what he taught me is still reverberating in my thought and acquiring deeper meaning. "No two patients are the same, therefore treatment must be individual" "Never treat the symptom without addressing the underlying cause". "Treat the whole person". "Help the patient stay well, treat preventatively". And most importantly, "Never doubt that you can help".
