About Donald Kimon Lightner
Don graduated from the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in January 2000 where he has been teaching and is Academic Dean. He has taught at the Asian Institute of Medical Studies, worked with the Providence Institute for ten years, Miraval since 2004 and has recently opened Kimon Wellness. Don practices acupuncture, Chinese herbs and tuina. He took vows of refuge with H.H. the Dalai Lama in 1993, Jukai with John Tarrent Roshi 1997 and became a monk in the Zen Buddhist tradition with Fr. Pat Hawk Roshi in 2001. He is a certified teacher of Japanese Tea Ceremony in the Urasenke Chado tradition of tea. He studied martial arts for twenty years, is an accomplished artist in ceramics, painting, woodworking and has been studying Chinese calligraphy with Master Xu Datong since 1996.
