About Tanya Travis
I am a board certified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which incorporates Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Dietary Therapy, Chinese Therapeutic Massage and other specialized therapies. As a graduate of the East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida, I have both a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Professional Health Sciences. I have also completed additional internships, including one with a HealthSouth Hospital.
Originally focusing on Western medicine, I graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town with a combined Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. After covering numerous specialties (medical & neurosurgical ICU's, pediatric burns, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary & general rehabilitation & others), I began to fully comprehend the limitations of some forms of conventional healthcare and I realized that I wanted to be able to offer my patients something more. This fueled my desire to investigate alternative therapies.
Ultimately, my journey led me to TCM. Once I had experienced its very powerful therapeutic effects, I knew that I had found the essential therapy that would be the foundation of my practice. I incorporate other alternative therapies (e.g. Craniosacral therapy), as well as much of my knowledge from my Western medical training. I believe in a multi-disciplinary approach, as both TCM and Western medicine are very valuable healthcare tools.
My treatments are designed to be very relaxing and I place special emphasis on spending one-on-one time with my patients. The scope of my practice is very broad.
My practice is located at the Life Guidance Center in West Ashley (on the same road to Costco). I accept insurance where applicable. I am happy to answer any questions and offer a free initial consultation. To learn more simply call me at the Center (843) 735-5900, ext. 103 or on my cell (843) 810-9731. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you in any way that I can.
